(click thumbnail)CCTV is among the broadcasters using Lawo mc²66 console for its surround mixing of the Games.In addition to the more than 50 mc² mixing consoles present in the European and Asian outside broadcast vans in Beijing to cover the Summer Games, Lawo is installing surround control rooms with mc² Series desks in Beijing.
Through its rental services company, Audio Broadcast Services, 17 surround controls will be constructed for coverage of the Games. ABS is also providing planning, delivery, project engineering and on-site support.
To guard against unforeseen problems, ABS plans to have on hand a pool of Lawo equipment available for hire if a broadcaster has a systems failure or discovers it needs more gear on site. Flight-cased mixing console systems will also be available.
