Nebraska tower worker killed in fall
By TVTechnology published
A worker died west of Lincoln, Neb., June 16, when he fell 1,200 feet from a TV tower he was reinforcing to hold a DTV antenna that was installed last fall.
The 22-year-old man, identified as Carlos Munoz of West Monroe, La., apparently fell when a harness system he was using to attach himself to the 1,500-foot tower used by KOLN and KGIN-TV failed.
Munoz was a crew member from the SpectraSite Broadcast Group in Irving, Texas. The group was working on the transmission tower.
The tower, which is owned by Gray Communications, is located near Beaver Crossing, Neb., which is 30 miles west of Lincoln.
The Occupation and Safety Administration is assisting in the investigation into the cause of the incident.
