NAB Launches 2009 Congressional PSAs

The National Association of Broadcasters is unleashing nearly 800 public service announcements across the nation featuring members of Congress and their families discussing health and social issues.

It’s the output of the NAB’s 2009 Congressional Families PSA Program, produced in partnership with the Congressional Club, enabling members of Congress and their families to participate in free, professionally produced spots.

"Since 1985, hundreds of congressional members and their spouses have addressed community issues through this invaluable program," said NAB Executive Vice President Dennis Wharton. "We look forward to working with local radio and television stations to ensure that these important public service messages are aired in communities nationwide."

The 2009 class includes 232 members and delegates from 48 states and three territories, with several announcements recorded in Spanish. The PSAs will be distributed to stations throughout each congressional member's district or state. A variety of topics are covered, including breast cancer, diabetes, emergency preparedness, going green, healthy heart, literacy, online predators and skin cancer.

Additional information about the PSAs can be found at the NAB Spot Center.
