Laird Telemedia Introduces New HD-SDI 4 x 4 Router

Laird Telemedia, a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of advanced digital video production technology, brings the broadcasting industry its new HDTV 4 x 4 router for switching HD-SDI and SDI video signals. The LTM-4X4HDSDI switches during the vertical interval so transitions are smooth and glitch-free with genlocked sources. It has many unique features such as both front panel and PC control of all functions, an onboard active memory to store and recall setups, a take button for executing multiple switches simultaneously and looping genlock input for system sync. The LTM-4X4HDSDI is a housed in a compact 1RU cabinet and has a worldwide 110/220 power supply.

“We saw the need for a flexible HD-SDI 4 x 4 media router,” said Nigel Redman, vice president of engineering at Laird, “to serve as the high definition nerve center for professionals who need to be ahead of the curve. If you’re working in broadcast HD, it’s a must-have product. A hardworking 4 x 4 router has always been an important piece of technology in all areas of the broadcasting industry. With the transition to HD in full swing Laird will once again be providing high quality solutions for the broadcast industry including this HD-SDI 4 x 4 Router.”

Because the LTM-4X4HDSDI is a full bandwidth router, it also switches Standard Definition signals as well. The unit automatically detects SD or HD signals and changes the selection switch light accordingly—Red for SD and Blue for HD—to deliver a simple visual identification of the signal type.

The Laird HD-SDI 4 x 4 router will be introduced at the Laird Telemedia booth #SL2009 next to Avid at NAB 2007. To learn more about the LTM-4X4HDSDI and other Laird Telemedia products visit
