Home of the Sub-$10K HD Camcorder

One of the problems with HD has always been the cost. But at this year's NAB, convention goers will see a handful of HD camcorders priced under $10,000.

In the HDV camp is the JVC's 3-CCD GY-HD100 ProHD HDV camcorder making its debut at NAB.

Sony's sub $10,000 professional HDV camcorder (HVR-Z1U) has been out for a while, but this will be it's first test against another HDV 3-CCD camera from JVC (The first HDV camera on the market used a single CCD).

Panasonic, however, will stick with DVCPROHD showing a P2 camcorder for under $10,000 at NAB.

Grass Valley sources confirm the company is working on HD acquisition and production gear for all price ranges including sub $10K. GV will be showing a private, by invitation only, proof-of-concept demo at NAB.
