Harris Wins Dubai Installation

Melbourne, Fla.-based Harris snagged an order to build an archive facility for Kuwait Television via systems integrator, Gulf Media Co.

Harris Broadcast will provide equipment and software from across its HD line, including Nexio XS servers, Velocity NX editing, the Centrio broadcast multiviewer, a Platinum router, Videotek TVM-950 test and measurement instruments, 6800+ SD/HD A/V processing and distribution modules and the CCS Navigator control and monitoring application. H-Class software for automating playout, for digital asset management and workflow management will also be installed.

This agreement marks the first installation of the Harris Invenio digital asset management tool in the Middle East, the company said.

In addition to having the desired combination of equipment and software, Gulf Media CEO Ali Al-Elayyan, noted that Harris nailed the contract because it had a locally based, Arabic speaking engineer on the support team.

Kuwait TV operates three networks and one satellite channel and is based in Kuwait City
