Harris supplies 3Gb/s-ready infrastructure for new Metrovision HD truck

Mobile production company Metrovision Production Group has selected the latest Harris 3Gb/s-ready broadcast technology solutions to equip its new HD production truck, which was built in partnership with Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network.

Scheduled to hit the road next month, the 40ft Metrovision HD-2 truck, equipped with a 31ft expando and a Ku-band satellite dish, will be one of the nation's largest hybrid production/Ku mobile units.

Metrovision HD-2 will be used to produce HD programming for all of YES Network’s college football and basketball and Yankees’ pre- and post-game shows, as well as other events such as the NCAA Basketball Tournament and Super Bowl XLIV.

Harris HD technology installed includes: 16 X50 single-channel 1RU processors; the Videotek Compact Monitor Series; a 15RU Platinum video router with integrated CENTRIO multiviewer; and a 9RU Platinum audio router with TDM architecture, which enables discrete AES, discrete analog and embedded audio to be processed within the same frame.

Rounding out the Harris system are 6800+ HDTV up/crossconverters, featuring Q-SEE enhanced monitoring and thumbnail streaming for detailed remote monitoring of primary, backup and output signals; NEO up/down/crossconverter modules; Videotek VTM4100PKG modular, multiformat on-screen monitors; and CCS Navigator software, which provides centralized, real-time control and monitoring of the entire broadcast system to streamline day-to-day operational workflow.
