Fisher to Purchase Equity Stations

Fisher Communications has announced its plans to purchase Equity Broadcasting TV stations for $20.3 million.

The stations include full-power KPOU and KPOU LP in La Grande and Salem, Ore. respectively. Both stations provide Hispanic programming to the Portland, Ore. market through an affiliation with Univision. Also included in the deal are low-power stations including an ABC-affiliate in Portland, Ore. and CBS affiliates in Boise and Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Pending regulatory and FCC approval, Seattle-based Fisher expects the purchase to be completed using existing cash and some of its $20 million in its revolving line of credit. Fisher Communications' nine network-affiliated television stations, and a tenth station 50 percent owned by Fisher, are located in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. The company also owns 27 radio stations in Washington and Montana.
