DisplaySearch HD Conference Coming to L.A. in August

DisplaySearch--a market analyst of video display technology--reported it will bring together the world's largest TV brands for its 3rd annual HDTV event in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Aug. 23-24. Forum topics this year include the outlook for HD content and distribution.

Keynoters include reps from HP, LG Electronics, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and Syntax. DisplaySearch said these brands represent six of the top seven North American brands in terms of total TV revenues. (Sony is still number one with Samsung, Panasonic and Mitsubishi rounding out the top four.) The companies will address the outlook for various technologies of which they are the major players.

Speakers next month will include Mark Cuban, sports club owner and co-founder of HDNet. (Cuban was last year's highest-rated speaker at this annual event.) Among other things, he's expected to issue his own recommendations on how the 1080p transition can be accelerated.
