Pro-Bel has announced that the City University of New York’s TV station, CUNY TV, has extended its long standing relationship with Pro-Bel with the purchase of the company’s groundbreaking Morpheus automation system.
CUNY TV is a full time station operated as part of the University. Its aim is to provide New York City cable viewers with educational, cultural and public affairs programming free of commercial content. CUNY TV is now upgrading its facility with Morpheus at the heart of that upgrade. ICON single processing technology is also being installed. The Morpheus architecture supports non-linear playout of not only conventional material, but a wide range of multi-media and data-based content. At the core of Morpheus is the MediaBall concept, allowing even the most complex sequences of events to be packaged in a way that provides simple presentation to an operator and easy manipulation within a schedule.
John Harvi, Director of Engineering with CUNY TV, explains the history of the relationship with Pro-Bel, “Our first purchase was in 1997 and that was Sextant automation and a TM router. In 1999 we installed a Freeway router and in 2000 a TX320 master control switcher alongside Aurora router control.” Morpheus represents the next step in using Pro-Bel technology.
