Compix gives Clemson Tigers flexible, affordable CG solution to enhance live video, webcasts

Clemson University is using Compix’s CynerG2 HD dual-channel CG to incorporate live statistics, lower thirds and other graphics into its big-screen video wall and webcasts for Tigers basketball games at Littlejohn Coliseum. The CG is also being used for webcasts of home baseball games from Doug Kingsmore Stadium and for football games at Memorial Stadium.

The video services team, with the support of Compix, has customized the CynerG2 HD to accept live statistics from the sports information department. Reading an XML page with sports information, the Compix CynerG2 system provides current statistics for players and games. The CG also has been integrated into a mobile production system that can be moved from venue to venue as the sports season changes.

In Littlejohn Coliseum, the university has upgraded from a traditional scoreboard to a video screen, and the Compix CynerG2 has given video services the tools needed to incorporate scoring and statistical information into the new video display. Clemson currently uses the system at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, where it allows the student staff to add graphics and stats to baseball webcasts, giving them the look, feel and data characteristics of a network TV broadcast.

The CynerG2 HD dual-channel CG is a 4RU system that supports all digital SD-SDI and 1080i and 720p (60/59.94/50) formats. Integrated GenCG software is easy to use and provides a sizeable array of features such as rolls, crawls and more than 250 transitional effects, as well as user-definable clocks and timers.
