CN8 Chooses Harris Corporation’s OSi-Traffic

Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, will provide its premier traffic application, OSi-Traffic, to CN8, The Comcast Network. CN8, the nation’s largest and most diverse multiregional cable network reaching more than nine million cable homes in 20 television markets, chose OSi-Traffic for its realtime network and zone capabilities.

“Harris OSi-Traffic gives us realtime, cutting-edge tools and responses with minimal wait time,” said Ellen Aulson, director of Special Operations at CN8. “This, combined with the software’s ability to handle our zone and network requirements, was the primary reason we chose OSi.”

CN8’s ability to manage its mission-critical operations will be enhanced by OSi-Traffic’s realtime traffic, accounting and yield management tools. The multizone, multinetwork functionalities of OSi-Traffic application facilitate CN8’s delivery of customized programming to its different zones. The scheduling component of OSi-Traffic ensures that broadcast schedules need only to be entered one time and will immediately filter to all zones. The system provides each zone with the ability to override the network log at anytime to accommodate local spot insertion. This will enable CN8 to further streamline its operations, eliminate redundant data-entry of information and increase revenue by maximizing station inventory.

CN8 joins a growing number of cable providers that have selected Harris OSi Sales, Traffic and Research Solutions for the system’s agility in catering to a wide variety of media operations. Designed for multi-environment solutions, OSi-Traffic ensures that clients have a cost-effective business environment that provides efficiencies of scale and growth.

“With OSi-Traffic, clients receive an innovative solution that gives them a high level of functionality customized to their individual needs,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of the Harris Broadcast Communications Division.
