CBS has acquired the online high school sports network MaxPreps, which will become a unit of CBS-owned College Sports Television (CSTV). The move will expand local sports coverage for the company.
MaxPreps.com was launched in 2003 and contains over 10 million pages of content and roster information on more than 1 million athletes. The site aggregates statistics from various sources, produces articles about high school athletes and coaches, and publishes national rankings for football and both boys and girls basketball.
MaxPreps boasts more than 2.5 million visitors a month during the school year, and syndicates content to local newspapers and TV stations.
