KVCR Automates on Sundance

KVCR, a PBS affiliate serving the Los Angeles market, is automating on a Sundance Digital Titan package, the vendor said. The station, owned by the San Bernardino Community College District, selected a three-channel version to control its multicast channels and analog simulcast.

The station recently cut over to the system and was said to realize immediately improved productivity. KVCR Chief Engineer Tom Guptill said airplay is “much tighter,” and they’re transmitting the additional channels with the same number of people on the staff.

The Titan drives an Omneon Spectrum server, a Harris Integrator Gold router and a Harris IconMaster master control switcher.

Components of the automation configuration include TitanSync for backup, two Air Control workstations, two List Processors, three Media Prep Stations and two Sundance Integrated Device Operations Networks, or SIDONS.
