ADC Broadcast patch gear improves performance on Corplex mobile units

A full complement of signal distribution gear from ADC has been installed in all of Corplex’s mobile production units, which are used to support major sports events throughout the United States and Canada.

Corplex designed and built one of the industry’s first all-digital mobile production units in 1998 and continuously updates its mobile units to keep pace with industry changes. The company’s two HD mobile units and their two support units regularly cover major sports event.

ADC’s ProPatch Miniature (PPM) system is deployed in Corplex’s Iridium and Zinc HD mobile production vehicles because of its reduced size, light weight and optimal performance.

“As the broadcast market changes and the demand for higher-bandwidth gear increases, the space on our mobile production units is still limited to 53ft and 80,000lbs, so we are constantly looking for new advancements and products that can help us utilize this same space in better ways,” said Dave Greany, VP and partner at Corplex. “ADC’s ProPatch Series frees up valuable space in the mobile unit by providing 30 percent more density. This translates into a third less space and half the weight of a normal patch bay, so I can get more equipment in the truck.”

The ADC Super High-Density Coax (SHDC) PPM system is designed to reduce the amount of rack space required for coax video and audio panels. Versions are available for AES audio as well as SMPTE 424 HD video. The PPM panels with SHDC jacks are available in both 1RU and 1.5RU configurations. ProPatch professional audio panels also are used in the mobile units.
