Wegener iPump, COMPEL to power Telesat distribution of Canadian legislature
By TVTechnology published
On Jan. 9, Wegener said it had received an order from global satellite provider Telesat to launch nonlinear programming services in Canada.
Wegener’s equipment will be used to complement Telesat’s existing video distribution network. Wegener is supplying its iPump media servers and COMPEL network control system. In the initial deployment, the iPump media servers will be used to record live legislative proceedings for specific Canadian regions and distribute them to remote communities within the region. Content owners will remotely control content playback by accessing individual iPump media servers via a Web interface.
Wegener began shipping the equipment in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007. The network is now being installed and is scheduled to soon be operational.
