TSL to introduce dual-input, auto-changeover mains distribution unit at IBC2009

TSL has expanded its range of power distribution units and will introduce the MDU2-CO2, with dual I/O power supplies, at IBC2009 in Stand 10.B41.

Designed for rack-mounted equipment requiring an uninterruptable power supply, the 1RU MDU-CO2 supplies power to TSL’s MDU12 Power Manager series of intelligent mains distribution units and can be mounted either at the front of the MDU12 series or at the rear of the rack with an optional tie bar.

The dual-input power supplies provided by the MDU-CO2 are routed through a set of master changeover relays with control circuitry that detects power presence. In the event of an input failure, the unit seamlessly switches to a backup power supply in less than 30ms, which means that equipment is unaffected by the changeover. In addition, because of advanced design techniques, no load is taken from the backup supply when the MDU-CO2 is idle.

Power is fed from the MDU-CO2’s relays to a double-pole mains switch/circuit breaker on the unit’s front panel, which feeds the unit’s two outputs for a maximum total power output of 16A. The unit has configurable master or slave control capability, so when the master power is restored, the unit will switch back to the original source, ensuring that backup power isn’t used unnecessarily. Advanced negligible on-resistance relays provide the additional benefits of cool running and lower energy consumption.
