Telemetrics Doubles Speed and Triples Accuracy on Pan/Tilt Heads

Telemetrics Inc.'s new line of servo-controlled pan/tilt heads, the PT-CP-S2, PT-LP-S2 and PT-HP-S2, offer more than double the speed and triple the accuracy of previous models, the company said.

The heads incorporate heavy-duty cross roller bearings and precision Swiss DC motors with optical encoders isolation-mounted for quiet operation. They can be controlled via RS-232 or RS-422 protocol with direct lens and camera interface connectors for camera and lens control functions. Serial control interfaces are available for most Hitachi, JVC, Panasonic and Sony cameras, and a separate camera power connector provides optional power through the pan/tilt heads using the control system power supply.

The Mahwah, N.J.-based company is also offering a new Virtual Studio option for the PT-LP-S2 and the PT-HP-S2 with precision feedback accuracy to seamlessly integrate into virtual studio applications, allowing a host computer to automatically match virtual background scenes to camera movements, for example.

The heads "deliver the speed, control, programming versatility and smooth movements required for demanding broadcast and production applications like centralcasting, which is becoming an increasingly attractive means of increasing remote capabilities while reducing overhead," said Anthony Cuomo, VP of Telemetrics.

The PT-CP-S2 is a compact pan/tilt head with either top -- or sidemounting platforms; the PT-HP-S2 is an "H"-shaped head available with extended arms and yoke and an optional slip ring to provided unimpeded, continuous 360-degree panning; and the PT-LP-S2 is an "L"-shaped unit ideal for studio applications.
