Tandberg Demonstrates Secure Content Delivery System

At the NAB Show, Tandberg Television is launching its next-generation MediaPath secure content delivery system, which distributes content across “Any Platform to Any Device.” Designed for content providers, network operators and their affiliates, the scalable, end-to-end solution promises secure point to multipoint delivery of nonlinear digital HD and SD TV programs along with such file-based content as VOD programs, advertising, music and games. The MediaPath system supports collaboration between content providers and cable, telco and satellite operators.

MediaPath can deliver assets to receiver locations serving set-top boxes, PCs and mobile media players. Delivery options include MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC, and the system supports DVB-S2 for satellite delivery while simultaneously enabling terrestrial unicast and multicast distribution over a shared network. Encryption software for security and error correction protects media assets throughout the delivery process. Proactive monitoring ensures content flows throughout the MediaPath system as well as the VOD and asset management systems downstream.

MediaPath components include the Manager, Pitcher and Catcher, which provide for recovery and redundancy. The Manager’s toolset can access details about inventory, scheduling, security and reporting. The Pitcher enables simultaneous satellite and terrestrial distribution. The Catcher receives content from the Pitcher and automatically delivers packages directly to an authorized asset management system or video complex.

MediaPath currently delivers media assets to 900 commercial deployments in the United States, reaching millions of VOD-enabled subscribers. The next generation permits a seamless migration path to avoid service interruptions for existing customers.

Tandberg Television, part of the Ericsson Group, is at Booth SU4210.
