The Sony MSW-970, which records in the MPEG IMX format,is based on 2/3in Power HAD EX CCD imaging sensors.

Sony will introduce two new camcorders designed for high-quality standard-definition acquisition at NAB2005.

The MSW-970 records in the MPEG IMX format, and the DVW-970 records in the Digital Betacam format. The new models add greater levels of image quality and production flexibility to their respective camcorder families, especially with the new capability of 24PsF, 25PsF (PAL versions) and 30PsF image capture.

The camcorders are based on 2/3in Power HAD EX CCD imaging sensors, and feature 14-bit A/D converters. The camcorders share a common chassis, software and feature set. Both have a slow shutter feature up to 16 frames, enabling unique effects and extreme low-light shooting, as well as time lapse capture and picture cache recording capabilities.
