Snell & Wilcox to Introduce Quasar HD Upconverter

Snell & Wilcox will unveil the world's first HD television upconverter to incorporate motion compensation. The Quasar HD upconverter uses motion estimation technology from the company's Ph.C standards conversion product to produce an extremely sharp and pleasing SD to HD conversion.

"Quasar is the product broadcasters have been looking for to produce eye-catching pictures for HD-savvy viewers while gradually upgrading their SD plant," said Joe Zaller, vice president of marketing for Snell & Wilcox.

Quasar handles video, graphics, film and mixed media inputs with equal ease and provides 720p and 1080i HD output formats. The upconverter provides the user with a range of image processing controls and incorporates signal condition and noise filtering. The unit provides support for both discreet and embedded digital audio as well.

Snell & Wilcox will be in Booth SU156.
