New Antenna Specifically Targets DTV Reception

Antennas Direct, a St. Louis-based antenna manufacturing firm, has just introduced a new compact model designed especially for DTV reception.

Dubbed the ClearStream 1, the antenna is the second model to be introduced in that series, and is optimized for reception in both UHF and high-band VHF portions of the television broadcast spectrum.

“There hasn’t been significant innovation in TV antenna technology for the past 30 years,” said Richard Schneider, Antennas Direct president. “Although television broadcasts have changed—with the introduction of digital broadcasting—antenna design has been stagnant. Antennas Direct is committed to fostering research and development of stronger, more-efficient antennas designed specifically for digital television.”

The ClearStream 1 has a stated gain of 8 dB and the company is plugging it for reception of stations up to 30 miles away. It measures 10x10-inches, and with a 70 degree beam width is claimed, allowing reception of geographically separated transmitters without the necessity of adjusting the antenna.

MSRP for the new model is $59.
