GTC upgrades NIM to support bidirectional video exchange for CBS Newspath
By TVTechnology published
Generation Technologies (GTC) has upgraded NIM, its affiliate network news management system, to support bidirectional digital video file exchange between CBS Newspath's newsroom, regional offices and 230 network affiliates.
With the click of a mouse, affiliate producers select from CBS's daily inventory of more than 400 news stories for inclusion in their local newscasts. This new technology replaces the traditional process of real-time dubbing with a nearly spontaneous IP transfer.
This enhancement also provides producers at all 230 stations the ability to send locally shot video clips to the CBS Newspath network via the Internet with a mouse click. The video and its metadata, including copyright and embargos, stay coupled all the way through the process.
