For-A to Introduce Real-time Noise Eraser

For-A Corp. of America will introduce at NAB the DNE-2, a real-time video noise eraser that incorporates motion compensation technology to remove both grain and dust noise without harming the quality of the original video.

The same motion compensation technology in the FRC-7000 Frame Rate Converter enables the DNE-2 to maintain a high level of accuracy in the replacement information.

“We named the DNE-2 a ‘Noise Eraser’ instead of a ‘Noise Reducer’ because we wanted to create a product that would accurately remove noise only, using For-A’s image processing technology,” said Hiro Tanoue, For-A deputy general manager of overseas operations. “It marks a significant break from competitive products. The ‘2’ in the DNE-2 model name represents the two filter functions that are used in the product—one to remove grain noise and one to remove dust noise.”

The DNE-2 removes grain and dust noise from video that’s been converted from film to video. It supports HD-SDI input and output and the following formats: 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 1080/24p, 1080/24psf, 1080/23.98p, 1080/23.98psf, 720/59.94p and 720/50p.

With 1080i format materials, progressive conversion inside the DNE-2 occurs with video converted via pulldown, enabling noise removal with an appropriate frame rate.

In addition to noise removal for telecine video, the DNE-2 can also be used to improve S/N level, removing noise caused during image compression and as a preprocessor for producing package media such as DVDs.

For-A will be in Booth SU5220.
