Envivio, National Grid Wireless Deliver Three-Screen Video at IBC2007

IP video encoding solutions provider Envivio and broadcast infrastructure provider National Grid Wireless teamed up to deliver streamed TV alongside VoIP and data across a WiMAX network throughout the RAI Congress Centre during IBC2007.

The open systems-based solution enables mobile WiMAX operators to reach three video screens (TV, PC and mobile phones).

From 3G to xDSL to WiMax, the Envivio mobile-to-HD encoders support a wide range of network protocols, resolutions, codecs, bit rates and devices. The Envivio solutions featured with National Grid Wireless showed how operators can reduce operational costs while offering subscribers compelling video services, according to the companies.

National Grid Wireless, one of two U.K. providers of terrestrial infrastructure for the transmission of analog and digital television and radio broadcasts, has achieved 98 percent population coverage. NGW also provides infrastructure services to all the Freeview channels, the BBC and BSkyB.
