D-Link and video compression pioneer Sorenson Media have launched the D-Link DVC i2eye, a new videophone that combines Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology, video software, video communications processor and a user-friendly interface. The videophone is designed for consumers and small businesses for video conferencing applications over high-speed Internet.
The DVC-1000 i2eye uses Sorenson Media's SVX video communications processor to transport video over low bandwidth. To conduct a real-time videoconferencing session, users connect a TV to the i2eye with a broadband connection. It can send and receive video at up to 30 fps with a 352 x 288 Common Intermediate Format (CIF) resolution at 512 kbps transmissions.
D-Link, a developer and manufacturer of networking, broadband and voice and data communications for smaller office markets, is retailing the DVC-1000 i2eye for $299.
