Canon Introducing New HDgc Lenses at IBC2006

Canon U.S.A. will showcase several new lenses in its HDgc product line at IBC2006.

Designed for use with new mid-range portable HD cameras, the KH16ex5.7 IRSE lens is made for 1/2-inch HD camera sensors and the KT20x5B KRS lens is intended for 1/3-inch sensors.

The Canon line of HDgc lenses is specially formulated without lead in order to minimize any environmental impact. The lenses incorporate Canon's "Flourite" which offers superior dispersion characteristics, and a specially developed new lens glass (Hi-UD), which has "high index, ultra low dispersion" characteristics.

"Canon's new HDgc line was very well received at NAB," said Gordon Tubbs, assistant director of the Broadcast and Communications division at Canon U.S.A. "In response to this overwhelming reception, Canon is introducing these two additional new HDgc lenses engineered to meet the needs of even more of the new generation of affordable HD camcorders being made for broadcast-level production."

With the introduction of these news lenses to the HDgc line, Canon can now supply models for all leading camera-imager sizes, including 1/2-inch, 1/3-inch and 2/3-inch.

Canon will be in Stand 11.530.
