Canon Expands DigiSuper Lens Line

Canon Broadcast and Communications division will spotlight a series of new products at NAB, including the XJ27x6.5B IE-D HD lens and BU-40H remote-control HD camera.

The new XJ27x6.5B IE-D HD lens expands the line of DigiSuper 27 HDTV studio lenses. With a focal length of 6.5mm to 180mm, the lens offers the optional BWA-271 0.9x wide-angle attachment with “zoom-through” capabilities that supports moving from a wide shot to telephoto without negative effects on light transmission. This feature alters the range of the zoom on wide settings by 10 percent toward the wide side, making a new zoom range of 5.85mm to 162mm.

Other improvements in the new DigiSuper 27 include a servo-zoom speed of 0.5 seconds and an optional remote-controllable macro-focus feature that allows macro focusing from the pan bar.

Canon also will introduce the rugged BU-40H remote-control robotic pan-tilt HD camera that features weatherproof housing, Genlock input plus HD-SDI and SD-SDI output for a range of outdoor applications. The BU-40H can output HD-SDI and NTSC simultaneously. Its nonproprietary and open control protocol can interface with remote control systems by third-party providers.

Deemed as the successor to the standard-definition NU-700N robotic pan-tilt camera, the BU-40H HD camera comes equipped with three 1/3-inch (1,670,000 pixel) CCDs with a Canon HD zoom lens offering a 20x optical zoom ratio (4.5-90mm). Other features include Canon’s autofocus and image stabilizer technologies. The BU-40H head can pan 340 degrees and tilt 80 degrees (30 degrees up, 50 down).

Canon will be at Booth SU3020.
