Barco’s 23in HD reference monitor goes into production

At this year’s IBC, broadcast imaging specialist Barco showcased the first production units of its 23in HD reference monitor. Prototypes of this RHDM-2301 were successfully introduced at NAB2008 in April. The RHDM-2301 Barco presents the first true Grade 1 LCD display that ensures broadcast staff in production and post-production environments of the highest level of color stability and accuracy for their video reference tasks. First deliveries of the monitor are scheduled for November 2008.

The RHDM-2301 reference monitor is a display solution for studio professionals who are performing color-critical work on a daily basis. Barco has made use of its long-standing expertise in color-critical and LCD display technology to offer the market this Grade 1 LCD display with this high level of image quality.

Barco’s RHDM-2301 features some of the most advanced LCD technologies, such as a 10-bit panel and real-time color-stabilized LED backlights. The 23in monitor provides continuous color stability, accurate representation of grayscales, deep darks and pastel tones. In addition, Barco's RHDM-2301 display is a perfect tool for monitoring fast moving video. Thanks to the high-speed 120Hz panel and scanning LED backlight technology, it avoids motion blur and judder. This results in excellent motion handling and lifelike motion scenes, which are reminiscent of how CRT reference monitors are used to show moving video.
