Russian State Television Invests in RTS Intercom Systems

Straubing / Moscow It isn't just the athletes that have to gear up for major sporting events like the Olympic Games – to the technical service providers, too, world-class events like these represent a challenge for which they must prepare at length. For this reason, Russian state television's RTR Sport Moscow is already investing in the equipment it will be using when the Winter Olympics come to Russia in the year 2014. The centerpiece of the new acquisitions is a dual frame Advanced Digital Audio Matrix (ADAM) from RTS purchased from and installed by TELEX/RTS's Russian partner Qualitron. The two frames of the ADAM have been installed in different buildings but are linked by fiber-optic cable.

To optimize communication with units out and about at the Games, RTR has also invested in an RTS Cronus matrix. The system the broadcaster opted for in this case boasts two frames and 64 ports.

First choice in any Olympic team - ADAM

Nineteen inches wide and seven rack units in height, the Advanced Digital Audio Matrix (or 'ADAM') is an experienced Olympian. Since the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, the intelligent, easy to operate and stable intercom system, which has all the relevant technical demands covered, has participated in every Olympic Games. At the upcoming Summer Olympics in China, ADAM technology will again be playing a key role in communications. One of the most powerful arguments influencing its selection by RTR Sport, however, was its scalability. The ADAM covers a comprehensive range of broadcasting options from a single studio installation to a user network with worldwide connectivity. The new ADAM will serve as the interface between RTR's studios and OB trucks. RVON technology, in the shape of RTS's Voice-Over-IP network, will also play a key role here. In addition to the ADAM, the RTR team also invested in a large number of RTS keypanels and accessories.
