IPTV Taking Center Stage at NAB

The NAB Show will expand its offerings on Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) through a new conference series, a super session, and two floor pavilions.

“IPTV was the number one searched term and one of the most popular segments during last year’s NAB Show,” said Chris Brown, executive vice president of conventions and business operations at NAB. “We are not only addressing this demand but looking to provide unique insight to telecom providers as they grapple with the opportunities and issues surrounding the deployment of next generation video networks.”

The April 14-17 Telecom2008 conference series, “Building Your IPTV Business,” will bring together most of the key players in IP television to explore content creation, acquisition, management, protection, and distribution. Co-produced by Team Lightbulb, Telecom2008 will present four tracks that explore the business strategies and technologies necessary to build a viable IPTV business.

On Tuesday, April 15, panelists on the session “IPTV Right Now—Where We Are and What We Have Learned,” will provide a review of previous IPTV technology experiences and will help predict trends in “connected TV” over the next 12 months.

Delivering the session keynote will be Enrique Rodriquez, corporate vice president of Microsoft TV. An IPTV panel discussion will feature leaders from Hewlett-Packard, British Telecom, and AT&T. Boyd Peterson from the Yankee Group will moderate.

The new IPTV Pavilion and Content Central sections on the show floor will showcase the latest products and services for content distribution and delivery. The exhibitors will include Ambric, BT, ConnecTV Media International, Digisoft.TV, Itiva Networks, Maverick Systems, MDS America, NXP Semiconductors, Sentivision, Tektronix, UBStream, and Xeno.
