Twentieth Century Fox has joined an industry association led by Sony in the battle for the successor to the current DVD format.
The Sony group, which backs an optical-disk technology called Blu-ray (BRD), is opposed by a coalition led by Toshiba and NEC, which support a format called HD-DVD.
