WETA chooses SSL C100 HD for 'Newshour'

WETA, the public broadcasting station in Washington, D.C., has selected a Solid State Logic C100 HD digital broadcast console for a new HD control room that will be used on the “NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.”

The C132 HD installation includes SSL's MORSE (Modular Resource Sharing Engine) system, allowing the console to access remote mic inputs via fiber from either of WETA's two studios. The stageboxes are also configured with analog audio returns for confidence monitor returns to each studio. WETA's second studio features an SSL Aysis Air console.

WETA is working with systems integrator Communications Engineering (CEI), which has collaborated in several projects at the station. The HD control room for production of the “NewsHour,” is part of a multiyear plan for the station's analog-to-digital and HD transition.
