Toshiba America has begun shipping HD-DVD players to retailers in the United States.
The HD-A20 joins the existing Toshiba HD-DVD lineup, which includes the entry-level HD-A2 and the professional HD-XA2.
The HD-A20 plays back native 1080p HD-DVDs and conventional DVDs, which can be upconverted to near HD quality via HDMI interface.
