Survey: More Prefer 3D from Pay-TV than via Blu-ray

A recent online survey conducted by the marketing firm, Quixel Research LLC, indicates that more than 75 percent of those polled say they would prefer to receive 3D content from satellite or cable providers (as opposed to DVD or Blu-ray delivery) and are willing to pay more to receive it.

“Consumers not only prefer to receive 3D content from their cable or satellite provider, but they are willing to pay more for a 3D movie channel,” said Tamaryn Pratt, a Quixel Research principal. “Consumers are very familiar with recent 3D technology and those who have seen a 3D movie in the 12 months are interested in owning a 3D TV even if it requires [special] glasses.”

The study also revealed that 78 percent of the 1,000 persons surveyed said that that had viewed a 3D presentation, and that half of the survey group indicating that they are interested 3D at home. The poll indicated that “a significant majority” would be interested in making a change in their cable or satellite provider in order to receive 3D programming.
