NY’s WABC deploys road-worthy ENG editing systems with Grass Valley Aurora

WABC-DT, the ABC network’s flagship station in New York City, is deploying nine ENG remote editing systems configured by systems manufacturer 1 Beyond, that include Grass Valley Aurora high-definition editing and file management software and AJA Video KONA I/O capture cards. The preconfigured, road-worthy systems, are called the HD OctoFlex Rugged ENG Truck system.

The 1 Beyond HD OctoFlex Rugged system features a rugged military vehicle chassis, with shock-mounted disk drives and redundant modular power supplies.

Terry Cullen, president of 1 Beyond, said that the HD OctoFlex Rugged system offers the necessary speed and ease of maintenance to help ENG crews do their job quickly and reliably.

The Aurora HD editing platform is used by a number of ABC O&O stations, both in the field and in the studio. There are now some 50 systems (including 1 Beyond HD OctoFlex Rugged ENG Truck systems, High Performance GoFlex Laptops, OctoFlex Desktops) being used among the ABC O&Os across the country, all with Grass Valley Aurora editing capability in the field.
