News Copter Crashes In Brooklyn

(May 5, 2004) New York, NY--A television news helicopter crashed onto the roof of an apartment building in New York yesterday, snapping in two. There were three people on board, all of whom escaped serious injury.
The WNBC-TV helicopter, Chopper 4, was covering a shooting in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn when it spun out of control and hit the roof of a four-story brick apartment building. It broke in two and landed on the roof of a two-story building.
The people on board included Channel 4 reporter Andrew Torres and two pilots, Russ Mowry and Hassan Taan-Marin. All three were taken to area hospitals. Their injuries were not life-threatening. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
