New remote post system available from Media Distributors

The rental station division of Media Distributors has unveiled a new on-location post-production solution, The Remote Station, for turnkey video editing and storage management.

The Remote Station consists of a road-ready HD editing system secured in two Anvil-style road cases. Each Remote Station includes a Panasonic SD/HD-SDI video monitor; Genelec reference speakers; Mackie audio mixer, and Apple Mac Pros running Final Cut Studio 2 software. The detachable accessory case lid features folding legs to form an editing desk for on-location use.

The Remote Station was first used during the recent three-day production of the 30th anniversary of the Ford Ironman Triathlon in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The Ironman setup was based around a high-speed Storage Area Network (SAN) on 4Gb/s fiber for immediate, shared access to all media by each editor. The 2008 Ford Ironman World Championship aired on Dec.13 on NBC.

Brandon Yates, of Yates & Parks Consulting, who was in charge of on-site editing equipment for the production, said the Remote Station performed flawlessly. He literally opened up the case and began configuring the system within minutes. They also set up 19 cameras, whose footage had to be ingested and edited in a constant flow.

Media Distributors also demonstrated its new Remote Station solution at the BandPro Film & Digital “One World on HD” event in Burbank, CA.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Media Distributors also maintains offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle and San Diego.
