NASCAR, HDNet Third Season Coverage Starts April 20

This NASCAR season's live HD coverage on HDNet begins with the AutoZone West Series race, a regional NASCAR event, on Thursday, April 20, at 11 p.m. EDT from Phoenix International Raceway. Future races to be produced live in 1080i also include the April 29 event at Stockton 99 Speedway in California. The first Busch East Series telecast of the season is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at 9 p.m. from Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.

NASCAR and HDNet execs say not only is the sport itself well-captured in HD, but the 5.1 surround sound component (and 16:9 ratio) adds an extra dimension to the coverage that gives the broadcasts extra depth and realism. This will be the third year that NASCAR events will be produced by HDNet, a 24-hour premium channel.

The HDNet broadcast team of Mike Hogewood, Pat Patterson, Dave Burns, Dan Pardus and Kandace Krueger will cover the HD telecasts. Speed, an SD cable channel devoted to races and all other things that go fast, will re-air the HDNet-produced NASCAR Grand National Division events.
