NAB2006 to focus on next-generation media distribution technologies

NAB2006, set for Las Vegas from April 24-27, widens its scope this year to a new generation of content distribution technologies. The world's largest electronic media show will encompass new media distribution outlets ranging from IPTV to television over mobile phones.

It is estimated that about 100,000 people will attend NAB2006 this year. Truly an international show, NAB will host more than 300 international exhibitors and 67 international delegations when it convenes in Las Vegas today.

Exhibit areas will include TV/Video/Film, Multimedia, Outdoor Equipment & Media, Radio/Audio, Satellite Technologies and RTNDA. Many companies will be featured in six international exhibits, including the Bavarian Pavilion, Belgian Pavilion, China Manufacturer's Pavilion, France-Bretagne International Pavilion, Korean Pavilion & DMB Zone, and the UK/US Partners Pavilion.

Of course-in only a few days it would impossible for any single person to see everything at NAB. So we've picked some highlights and events that might be of special interest to broadcast television engineers. Our list is only a starting point, so keep your eyes and ears open for the unexpected as you wander through this largest of all broadcast trade shows.
