Lyon Video adds Thomson to new HD trucks

Columbus, OH-based production company Lyon Video has built three new all-HD production trucks that include HD production equipment from Thomson to support multiple HD sports telecasts.

Like two other HD mobile trucks in its fleet, Lyon Video’s new MU8 truck features 15 Thomson Grass Valley LDK 8000 HD cameras; 11 LDK Super Expander large lens adapters with 7in viewfinders; a Kalypso 4-M/E HD production switcher (with six video/key channels of internal DVE and eight internal still and clip sources); a Jupiter router control system; C2IP camera control system; and an MCP 400 master control panel.

Lyon Video has also launched an additional two HD mobile units, MU5 and MU9. Both units feature Thomson Grass Valley LDK 8000 cameras, Kalypso HD 4-M/E HD production switchers, Trinix HD video routers, and Concerto audio routers, all under a Thomson Grass Valley Jupiter control system.

Lyon Video is one of the first mobile unit providers in the United States with HD camera mixed-transmission format operation ability from Thomson. The LDK 8000 cameras in MU8 have the ability to operate on SMTPE fiber cable, single-mode fiber cable or triax cable. The camera transmission choice is made by simply plugging in a jumper cable to the optical system. In single-mode fiber operation, the camera may be up to 25,000ft from the base station. Lyon Video has added more than 47,000ft of single-mode fiber cable to the company’s inventory.
