Liberty Livewire, a provider of technical and creative services for the entertainment industry, has changed its name to Ascent Media Group. The company services will remain the same.
The renaming of Liberty Livewire to Ascent Media Group is a strategic effort that began over two years ago to reflect the consolidation of media services companies providing post production, media asset management and content distribution services. Liberty Livewire was formed through a series of strategic acquisitions of post-production facilites and similar operations serving the film and video industry. The new Ascent Media Group will continue to focus on its goal of providing a one-stop shop for production, from creation of assets to distribution.
A select number of Liberty Livewire brands with strong marketplace equity will preserve their operating names. Liberty Livewire is a subsidiary of Liberty Media.
The company's NASDAQ ticker symbol for its Class A common stock has switched from LWIRA to AMGIA.
