Liberty Exec Receives NAB Leadership Award

Jim Keelor, the president and COO of Greenville, N.C.-based Liberty Corp is the recipient of the first Chuck Sherman Television Leadership Award from the NAB. The award is given annually to an individual demonstrating leadership, service and commitment to local TV in smaller markets.

The inaugural award, named after Dr. Charles E. Sherman, president of the NAB Education Foundation and former executive vice president of NAB Television, will be presented to Keelor at NAB's Hundred Plus Exchange, an annual meeting of small and medium market television broadcasters. Keelor is a member of the NAB board of directors, and current chairman of the board of the Television and Advertising Bureau.

Liberty Corp. owns 15 network-affiliated TV stations in markets ranging in size from Louisville (market #50) to Jonesboro, Ark. (market #180).

"I'm honored that NAB would name this award after me, and I'm truly delighted that Jim Keelor is the first recipient," said Sherman, who served as president and GM of small market TV stations in Peoria, Il., and Wheeling, W.V. "As a former small market television operator, I can vouch for the fact that this industry has no greater champion than Jim Keelor."
