Leitch showcases integrated content environment, new media server at IBC

Leitch Technology unveiled a new shared storage media server at IBC with the launch of NEXIO, a flexible server system that provides a foundation for the company’s Integrated Content Environment.

NEXIO enables newsroom integration, instant editing and secure transmission of content by providing applications for ingest, browsing, editing and media-management that streamline workflows and improve performance and productivity.

Designed for both transmission and news environments, NEXIO’s scalability, fault-tolerance and interoperability—including integration with IP networks—enables media facilities to streamline workflow and maximize return on investment.

The NEXIO server system features new, high-performance single or dual Intel Xeon processors and runs the RAIDSoft system, which allows all channels and network ports simultaneous access to content for maximum operational efficiency. As an operation grows, NEXIO’s modular and scalable design makes adding channels, bandwidth and storage easy, enabling users to build systems—up to 12 terabytes in a single domain—in small, low-cost increments.

Along with the server introduction, Leitch used IBC to unveil a corporate vision of a fully Integrated Content Environment, encompassing production, processing, distribution and the management of content throughout the entire content chain.

In addition to the server, there were updates to Leitch’s dpsVelocity multi-stream nonlinear editing system, which include native file export to Leitch VR servers. Additions to its NEO platform were also shown, including a modular upconverter; the NEO DVR hard disk recorder packaged on a single module; new high-density Simplicity cards; and the NEO SuiteView modular multi-source display processor. Leitch also unveiled new modules for its 6800+ interface platform.

As part of the content transmission process, Leitch introduced Panacea, a compact router series featuring HD format support, and Integrator Gold, a new wideband digital multi-rate router.

Monitoring and management of all content and workflow was demonstrated with Leitch’s new Command Control System (CCS) software. Using CCS, equipment can be controlled and monitored over IP and SNMP networks using CCS Navigator, a new software package that reduces complex actions to simple point-and-click operations.
