As part of its Asian expansion plan, Leitch has opened a new office in Beijing and has hired new personnel in sales, marketing and service for region.
The new office was made possible by a joint venture with a Chinese business partner, identified as a holding company outside of the industry.
Noting an "enormous" growth potential for the broadcast market in China, Leitch is "certain that China's economy is on an upward path and is well under control ... now is the right time to move forward with a considerable investment in this market," said Karlton Burn, managing director of Leitch Asia-Pacific.
Toronto-based Leitch also has offices in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, France, Japan and the UK.
