HPA Technology Retreat 2007 Update

Early registration for the HPA Technology Retreat 2007 ends today (Dec. 15). Online registration remains open until Jan. 19 and on-site registration takes place on Jan. 20, if space is still available. The retreat will be held Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at The Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The 2007 program, put together by Mark Schubin, brings top industry professionals in engineering, technology, management and creative areas together to discuss emerging technologies, industry trends and more. This year's topics include broadcasters update, color management, display technologies, video consumer marketplace, rights management, compression update, legislation and regulation update, HD finishing, digital projection technology, and digital television.

The retreat also includes demonstrations and interaction with the latest techno-centric items to hit the industries. Demos will be introduced on Wednesday and include presentations from AJA Video Systems, Apple, Fox Technology, Modulus Video, Panasonic, Ross Video, Snell & Wilcox, Sony Electronics and Thomson.

The Wednesday schedule also includes an "Introduction & Technology Year in Review" with Mark Schubin, a "Broadcasters Panel" that includes Randy Hoffner of ABC (and long-time TV Technology columnist), Bob Siedel of CBS, Jim DeFilippis of Fox, Glenn Reitmeier of NBC and Jerry Butler of PBS. Schubin will moderate the panel. Thursday and Friday events include several breakfast roundtables including "Secure Long-Term Archiving" with Art Rancis of InPhase Technologies and "24p Workflow" with Craig Yanagi of JVC.

The technology retreat is sponsored by the Hollywood Post Alliance, serving the professional community who provide expertise, support, tools and the infrastructure for the creation and finishing of motion pictures, television, commercials, digital media and other media content.
