Hearst-Argyle Opts for Ikegami HD Cameras

Hearst-Argyle Television has purchased nearly a dozen Ikegami HDK-75EX portable HD cameras and half a dozen Ikegami HDL-40 one-piece "POV" HD cameras for KCRA-TV in Sacramento, Calif., WCVB in Boston, and its production facility in the new Hearst Tower in New York City.

The HDK-75EX is a portable HD camera system that can be converted for studio use with either five-or nine-inch viewfinders, and full studio lenses with the SE-H700 System Expander, according to the company.

Three 2/3-inch, 2.2 million-pixel CCDs achieve a horizontal resolution of 1,000 lines and a S/N ratio of 56 dB. Using a downconverter incorporated into the camera control unit (CCU, a standard feature), the HDK-75EX can also be operated as a high-end NTSC studio camera. Both HD and SD video are provided simultaneously from the CCU and in digital and analog form.
