Green to Step Down From CableLabs

Richard Green CableLabs CEO Richard Green is retiring from the post, the industry consortium said Thursday.

Green told the CableLabs Executive Committee last week in New York that he plans to retire when his current contract expires in December 2009.

The committee will begin a search for a successor immediately.

"The entire industry is indebted to Dick for building and managing one of the most successful development laboratories in the country. CableLabs has and will continue to play a critical role in our industry's success," said Brian Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast Corp. and chairman of the CableLabs Board of Directors.

CableLabs has been hard at work developing platforms such as tru2way, aimed at promoting advanced interactive services for cable viewers.
