Former NCTA Chief Rejoins Consulting Group

NCTA President/CEO Robert Sachs has completed his tenure at the cable trade association and is rejoining the Continental Consulting Group.

Digital services including the launch of high-speed Internet, HDTV and VOD became established during Sachs' work as the association's leader. Also during his tenure, the FCC created rulings on carriage of digital broadcast signals and the federal preemption of state regulation and VoIP services.

Starting March 1, Sachs will serve as the principal of the cable consulting firm he co-founded in 1998 with Rob Stengel, former senior vice president of programming for Continental Cablevision.

Kyle E. McSlarrow, former deputy secretary of the Energy Dept. will succeed Sachs as president and CEO.
