For-A Helps Convert HD Signals
By TVTechnology published
São Paulo, Brazil-based TV Bandeirantes is using a For-A FRC-7000 frame-rate converter to convert its hi-def signals to standard def for transmission.
Content generated in Beijing will originate as 1080/50i signals, which need to be converted to 1080/59.94i for HD transmission in Brazil. As the majority of Brazilian viewers do not have HDTV sets, the signal also needs to be down converted to SD.
Similarly, Burbank, Calif.-based equipment rental company Bexel Broadcast Services is sending 14 FRC-7000s to Beijing as part of its service commitment for the Games. The frame rate converter will be used to convert feeds from 1080i/50 to 1080i/60 for distribution in the United States.
